Her many Walkerton friends learned with sincere regret of the death of Mrs. Samuel Truax, a former highly-esteemed resident of the town, which took place at the General Hospital, Toronto, on Friday Dec. 28th. She had been ill some four months with a complication of ailments. The late Mrs. Truax, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Jane Ashbury, was born in Bentinck Township, sixty-five years ago. On December 26, 1881, she married to Mr. Samuel Truax, and for thirty-five years they resided in Walkerton. where Mr. Truax was connected with the Truax factory. Mrs. Truax was a devoted mother to a large family all of whom spent their youthful days here. She was of a kindly disposition which made her a good neighbor and a true friend in time of need. Seven years ago the family removed to Toronto. Besides her sorrowing husband, the following family survive: John of Chatham; Reuben, Montreal; Will, Thamesville; Gordon, Sam and Norman, Toronto; Mrs. Geo. Mason, Toronto. Funeral service was held at the family home in Toronto on Friday evening and on Saturday morning the remains were conveyed to Walkerton for burial, the funeral taking place from the C.N.R. station on the arrival of the noon train from Toronto. Rev. H. J. Harnwell, pastor of Walkerton Methodist Church of which the deceased was for so many years a faithful member, conducted the service. The six sons acted as pall-bearers. [1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
