The Rolleston family first arrived in Ireland from England in 1610, in the reign of James I.
The Rollestons were a gentry family in the Offaly panhandle, so the marriage with the Ashburys who were in trades was interesting. The first relates to the widow of James Franck Rolleston marrying a cabinet maker of Dublin. Archer may have been a maker of fine furniture for the gentry (an elevated station is suggested by the other Archer parties being a clergyman and a military officer), but this is nonetheless another link into trade for this family. It may also be noted that Mary was baptised five months after her parents marriage.
1784 : James Frank Roleston of Dunkerrin was Appointed High Sheriff of Kings County. See The London Gazette: no. 12525. p. 3. 6 March 1784.

There were three children’s deaths in 1844, two in June, and another in December. A closer inspection of the Truax Document suggests that the June dates are actually December dates. The youngsters who died were:
Ellon aged 8y 10m
Robert aged 6y 1m, and
Margaret aged 1y 2m
Charles had died 3 years earlier aged 1y 1m. The only survivor of this contagion was Thomas Jr, who would have been 3y 6m at the time, and went on to the age of 41. The subsequent child, Jane, born 10 months later only survived for 8 months. Obviously her mother, and perhaps her father as well, were still poorly.
